چکیده

Prolonged, exhaustive exercise frequently leads to an increased incidence of upper respiratory tract illness (URTI) which is linked to transient immunodepression. We investigated potential biochemical markers of stress and fatigue, and URTI symptoms as a surrogate of immunodepression, in US Marines undergoing intensive winter training at altitude. Selected plasma amino acids and leptin (p[Lep]) were measured as possible markers of fatigue and immunodepression, together with nonesterified fatty acids (p[NEFA]) and total antioxidant capacity (p[TAC]). Changes were observed in plasma free tryptophan (p[FT]), p[Gln], p[Lep], p[NEFA], p[TAC] but not branched chain amino acids (p[BCAA]). p[FT] decreased markedly. Resting p[Gln] decreased overall after one month at altitude. p[Gln] routinely decreases 1-2 hrs after prolonged exercise. Importantly, we observed early morning decreases in p[Gln], suggesting a cumulative effect of prolonged activity, stress, and fatigue. Concomitantly, individuals with highest illness scores had the greatest p[Gln] decrease: low p[Gln] may therefore be associated with a diminished stress tolerance.

Effect of resistance exercise training on biochemical markers and anthropometric characteristics involved in atherosclerosis in obese women

Introduction: Obese individuals have elevated levels of inflammatory and cell adhesion molecules that can critically induce the occurrence of atherosclerosis. Aerobic exercise training reduces biochemical markers and anthropometric characteristics involved in atherosclerosis. However, little is known about the effect of resistance exercise training on these biomarkers. This study aimed to inves...

Effects of aerobic and resistance trainings on relation between blood biochemical parameters and body composition with bone turnover markers in overweight men

Introdution: The cells rolled in the formation of bone, regulated glucose metabolism, and increased insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and modulated the insulin resistance. Therefore, the present study aimed to study the effects of aerobic and resistance exercises on relation between blood biochemical parameters and body composition with bone turnover markers in overweight men. Metho...

The effect of 8 weeks of combined, interval aerobic and continuous aerobic training on lipid profile, function and some cardiovascular inflammatory markers in 30-45-year-olds militaries in cold and mountainous climates

Background and Aim: Increased plasma levels of HCY (homocysteine), CRP (C-reactive protein), TNFα (tumor necrosis factor), cTnI (cardiac troponin I) and cTnT (cardiac troponin T) are known as inflammatory risk factors for cardiomyopathy. So, this study aimed to investigate the effects of 8 weeks combined, interval aerobic and continuous aerobic training on HCY, CRP, TNFα, cTnI, cTnT, lipid prof...
